Before LeToya created her Life, Love, & Music web series, there was LeToya: The H-Town Chick. The 4-part reality special aired on BET during the weeks leading up to the release of platinum debut album LeToya in 2006. Take a look back at the introduction of LeToya as a solo artist and hear her journey becoming a solo artist below!
Before the release of her debut album, “The H-Town Chick” released her first mixtape, “What It Do”. The 31-track mixtape features a mix of LeToya songs, interviews, and classic Houston records. One of its most popular songs is a freestyle where LeToya put her own spin on rapper T.I.’s record “I’m A King” and named it, appropriately, “I’m A Queen”.
In early 2010, a few months after the release of LeToya’s second number one R&B album, Lady Love, she visited Brian McKnight on his show to talk about her then, soon-to-be released movie, Preacher’s Kid, her career, and invited to an impromptu performance of her hit single “Torn”.
